One of the best ways to share happiness with a child is to be happy yourself and have moments of positive connections. When teaching children it is easy to get caught up in the busy moments of teaching. It is the unselfish spirit of thinking of positive things of others that is powerful. When teaching a class, try to notice and say something positive to each child at least once during the period. This is such a helpful tool of happiness, even down to the one or two-year-olds. Simple statements like:
- “You look so lovely today with that pink dress.”
- “I like your smile. It brightened up my room.”
- A child shows you his owey, sympathize and say something like, “you are such a brave boy, I’m glad God makes our hurts go away.”
- “I’m so glad you’re here today.”
You don’t need to keep gushing over a person, just make a simple statement with a smile and sincerity. Believe it or not, you will find that this attitude of looking for the good in children will help your attitude too!
