This weekend our church is having their annual church campout.\u00a0 I will be teaching the kids 1-6 years-old for their one hour of time.\u00a0 Here’s a rough outline of what I will do.\u00a0 I’m posting it in case any of the rest of you need some ideas.\u00a0 Keep each of the items used in a different sack, one big sack, or a large picnic basket so they don’t see them until you are ready to use them.<\/p>\n
Opening:<\/strong>\u00a0 Sing some of these action songs 6. Prayer<\/strong><\/p>\n 7. \n8. Song<\/strong>:\u00a0 I Open My Bible Book & Read (use hands as a Bible) or do actions with Read Your Bible Pray Every Day (tune of I Will Make You Fisher’s of Men)
\n9.\u00a0 We have a special Bible promise<\/strong> we will sing several times and learn this morning.\u00a0 Sing & Clap to rhythm Psalms 121:2<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\n11.\u00a0 Smooth Rocks<\/strong>–this is something smooth God made.\u00a0 Rub on cheek & smile.\u00a0 Let each kid hold a smooth rock and sing Jesus Made the Pretty Rocks.
\n12.\u00a0 Trees<\/strong>–Jesus made the tall trees.\u00a0 Stand up tall and sway like a tree while singing The Trees Are Gently Swaying.
\n13.\u00a0 Let’s sing our Bible verse song<\/strong> again.\u00a0 Clap with me while we sing Psalms 121:2<\/a>.
\n14.\u00a0 Sticks<\/strong>–Because there are trees, we have sticks to play with!\u00a0 Find a stick (or hand one to each child) and poke it into the ground\/sand\/dirt like it’s growing.
\n15.\u00a0 Leaves<\/strong>–look at all the leaves out here!\u00a0 There are SO many different shapes & sizes.\u00a0 Give one leaf to each child or let them find a leaf to show you.
\n16.\u00a0 Bark<\/strong>–each tree has different skin (bark), just like God made each of us with different colors or skin.\u00a0 Let kids hold different kinds of bark and sing My God Is So Great.
\n17.\u00a0 Flowers<\/strong>–Let children hold a flower.\u00a0 Sing, Jesus made the pretty flowers (tune of Jesus Made the Pretty Rocks).
\n18.\u00a0 Can you make a flower grow?\u00a0 No!\u00a0 God is so great.\u00a0 He has made so many things.\u00a0 He promises to help us whenever we need it.\u00a0 Clap with me while we sing Psalms 121:2<\/a> again.
\n19.\u00a0 What else has God made?\u00a0 What flies in the sky?\u00a0 Birds!\u00a0 What are some sounds birds make?\u00a0 Make sounds of birds<\/strong> and let them guess what bird it is.\u00a0 Rooster, sparrow, hawk, crow, robin, parrot, duck, chicken.
\n20.\u00a0 Butterflies<\/strong>–what is something else that flies?\u00a0 Butterflies!\u00a0 Have you seen any today?\u00a0 Let’s put our two hands together and make them flap like a butterfly while we sing I Like to See the Butterfly.
\n21.\u00a0 Animals<\/strong>–God has made some other wonderful things.\u00a0 What have we not talked about yet?\u00a0 Animals!\u00a0 I’m going to act out an animal and you tell me what it is: cat, dog, elephant, rabbit, snake, bird, cow…
\n22.\u00a0 Insects<\/strong>–God has made some other fun crawling & flying creatures called insects.\u00a0 Show some insects in pictures or in a jar.\u00a0 If you see a buzzing bee, make sure not to touch it!\u00a0 Let’s do a finger play about the bee.\u00a0 Here is the beehive, where are the bees, hiding where nobody sees.\u00a0 Out come the bees, one, two, three, bzzzzz…
\n23.\u00a0 Jesus loves us SO much to make so much for us to enjoy!\u00a0 Sing Jesus Loves Me<\/strong> with hand motions.
\n24.\u00a0 Tell a Bible story<\/strong> in the dirt\/sand using sticks, stones, etc. for props.
\n25.\u00a0 Craft Time–go for a walk & find<\/strong> a list of items or ones like we talked about.\u00a0 Give a bag to each parent\/child to collect their items.\u00a0 Come back together in a few minutes and see what everyone found.\u00a0 Some items to look for: something pokey, something smooth, something soft, flower, leaf, bark, stick, feather.
